Second review of Alphabetic

I didn't get round to reviewing Sean's first cd, so thought i'd better oblige with this one...

[pops in cd...]

1 - Sweet! Got this soundtrack, its kewl.
2 - I recognise the tune... but its excrement, shoulda put the original on!

hmmm, the cd keeps skipping of its own accord, like its trying to reject itself, that's probably not a good sign...

3 - actually not too bad, thought i was going to hate it, not really my bag of chips but ok.
4 - this can feck off right now...
5 - i'm assuming this isn't really Timberlake, and in fact is going to be some sort of groovy remix thingy... good god it is him...
6 - these guys aren't happy, but that makes this kinda stuff better... still not really my sack of potato's though.
7 - by all accounts I should like these guys, but i don't. Go figure! Its ok i suppose, not really my rucksack of spuds though.
8 - oh lord... actually give it a chance and its moderately entertaining, in a bouncy kinda way. And its got swearing in it, which is always big and clever.
9 - rubbish.
10 - ooooh, funkeeee!
11 - ooooh, bobbins!
12 - ooooh, i don't give a fudge either, so fudge off! Utterly dire...
13 - absolutely brilliant... compared to number 12... on its own its passably twee and inoffensive.
14 - quick, into the bomb shelter Captain Mainwearing... no bombs, its just to escape this track...
15 - i'm really flagging now... 8 tracks to go...
16 - some old bird talking... is there really any point to this? I mean, who would voluntarily listen to this?
17 - "Just the good ole boys, never meanin' no harm..." unfortunately this isn't the theme tune to The Dukes of Hazzard, would be better if it was...
18 - thank the lord, something worth listening to, even though i've heard it loads before its an oasis in the desert of the unlistenable...
19 - After a quick drink in the oasis, back into the desert we go...
20 - well, its not from the 1920's, so its already an improvement... not by much though...
21 - fudge me, a guitar! hmmm, unfortunately the "singer" appears to be slamming his nutsack in a door, repeatedly, before watching episodes of Bergerac and 'allo 'allo... so bad it makes me want to remove my ears using the fan of funk on my desk.
22 - my resistance is now so low i can't tell if this is actually any good or not... right now i sort of feel like the bloke singing it though...
23 - mind pulped, this sounds ace after what's gone before, like an aural shot of Valium...
24 - [sound of handgun being clicked] BANG! [sound of brains hitting floor...]

I think its fair to say that this cd was not my bumbag of king edwards'... it peaked at track 1 and was downhill from there. My main interest in the tracklisting is to make sure i never actually buy any of this stuff by mistake... oh dear.

That's the problem with England. This sitting on the fence. Why can't we just say what we mean..come on everyone please...I am so glad I have managed to create such reaction.

Music should divide us otherwise you have no taste

Techincal point: Apple Mac written CD probably incompatable with everyone else, like my music tastes!

It's mearly been taken out of context - my head. It's a fine and diverse compilation!

is this a very flat bagel I see before me? no, it's Sean's compilation and it's in funky packaging. nice. right, let's slip this in the PC and see what delights await me..

01 - we're off to a good start. faeces movie. top soundtrack.
02 - this is bonkers but (strangely enough) I really like it. it's as mad as the original artist anyway, so there.
03 - well.. this gets off to a good start (nice quotage from one of my favourite movies) then it seems to.. well.. not do very much for me. it's OK but, ultimately, the annoying loop detracts from the rap.
04 - sacre bleu! I think this might be just too weird even for me; is that a howler monkey in the background? still, the guy was a comedy genius. did you ever see that TV clip where he told Whitney Houston he wanted to fudge her? now that's a slice of fried gold right there..
05 - a remix? not too shabby, I quite liked the original too [well, there goes any remaining cred I might have had].
06 - rap. it's not really my bag of donuts. boyeeee.
07 - excellent. I loved this when I first heard it, I've loved everything of theirs I've heard since, and I can't believe that I've STILL not bought the album. shame on me, shame I say.
08 - see, singing in two languages, he's just showing off I like this, it definitely grows on you, the bouncy tune making sure the lyrics creep up on you when you're not looking.
09 - umm.. chase music for a Woody Allen film? remember children, clarinets are NOT your friend.
10 - super smoooth and funky. sho nuff, ya dig?
11 - I remember when [insert name of her first album here, which this track is from] came out, the music press were falling over themselves about how [this artist] would be the next big thing. umm. the music press eh? what do they know?
12 - swearing. it's big and it's clever. and she's a scary woman who scares me, so that's a big thumbs up for this track.
13 - lovely. lovely super. and smashing. and great. one of my most favouritest bands ever. so, of course, I REALLY like this. a lot. Barry is so wrong about these.
14 - aww.. now this is just fantastic. OK, so it's old, and it's been done to death, but it's a top tune with a haunting melody that gets inside your head. lovely.
15 - now you're probably thinking that, as I didn't like track 9 for it's clarinet-jazziness, I should feel the same about this guitar-and-sax-filled slice of jazziness? well, that's where you'd be wrong. I like this a lot.
16 - what the fudge is this? old women talking about panties!? and thongs?!? now that's just wrong. I feel unclean.
17 - sounds like country and\or western. is it the guy who sang the theme tune to the Dukes of Hazzard? [scrolls up] ah, Paul has already done that gag.. umm.. well, he rhymes "achin" with "bacon".. tsk, moving swiftly on..
18 - genius. if only he'd stopped there before he went all crap [cue Barry again].
19 - it don't mean a thing if it ain't got no swing. this has loads of it. so I'm happy.
20 - not too shabby. he's a got a Jonathan Ross thing with his R's though.
21 - if this was a cocktail it would be a glaring orange colour and, on first sip, taste refreshing and zesty. however, once swallowed, it would quickly liquidise your brain and leave you a stumbling, drooling wreck, sounding not unlike Marlon Brando. is this a good thing? I don't know. it's an interesting tune but, like the cocktail, once is enough.
22 - fantastic. that voice of his is just mesmerising. or painful. either way, I like this.
23 - very mellow.
24 - yes, Scent of a Woman was on the other night wasn't it?

as always, a real mixed bag of stuff from Sean which, really, is what the SOMC is all about. this CD has given me fresh impetus to buy a CD I'd long prevaricated upon purchasing, and also to blow the dust off my Django Reinhardt albums. it's also reinforced my loathing of clarinets though. so, some you win, some you lose.
