1... reminds of one New Years Eve when it took me 45 minutes to get served.
2... this is a remix isn't it? A bit of a mish mash really, prefer the original.
3... oh no, awful...
4... I quite like this guy, he's done some good tracks, don't care much for this though, sounds like it was recorded in the 70's.
5... s'ok
6... unnervingly chirpy!
7... didn't like it at first, but the chorus grew on me, not bad.
8... oh god, its that bloke isn't it... the one i hated from your last cd and who has inexplicably won some music prize recently...
9... fix your teeth, stop drinking, and get lost!
10... oh dear, its suddenly not going very well...
11... nah...
12... interesting, sounds familiar, but can't place it.
13... no problem working out who this is!! A bit plodding though.
14... boring, pub rock. I know, they're "pioneers" or whatever, but its still bobbins.
15... same again...
16... nope, another big name band i've never liked.
17... 1min 30secs in and i'm bored, and it goes on for nearly 7mins! move it along to 3m30s, sounds exactly the same... move on to 5m30s, still the same... skip...
18... oh... dear...

well, not great then... highlights were 7 and 12... the trouble is I know there's artists on this cd that have done a lot better stuff then these examples... oh well, swim on!

I always look forward to Neil's compilations, they're like Forrest Gump's chocolate box; you never know what you're going to get..

01 classic one-hit wonder and, despite its age, scarily accurate at describing the angst that is "getting served at Wetherspoon's".

02 another track taken from "Across the Alkali Flats: Music for Rocket Sled Monkey Pilots". good.

03 see, this started and I thought it was going to be Beat City by The Flowerpot Men. how wrong I was, how wrong.

04 and there was me thinking this was Ben Folds [looks at shoes in embarrassed manner].

05 I liked it right up until it went RAWK (so that's the first 46 seconds).

06 it's happy. it's clappy. it's really not what you expect from this lot. the happy pills must have kicked in that day in the studio.

07 umm, it's gone a bit RAWK again. I must admit, I've got their album here but I've, as yet, not given it a listen.

08 so, now that he's won an award and all, is there any chance that he's going to cheer up a bit? don't get me wrong, I like this, but I think someone needs to buy him the same happy pills as the guy from track 6.

09 pass me the tea tray, I need to bang me heed.

10 they must really hate their bass player. really.

13 in any other profession, a grown man dressing up as a schoolboy would be a definite career killer. god bless rock and\or roll music! still, not their best track though.

17 h'mm.. Ian Curtis goes Country & Western? I think, if I'd been drinking Jack Daniels all evening, I'd really like this.

18 we began with a one-hit wonder, and that's how we finish. I've got this on 7" too, it's got a nice cheap looking green sleeve. eeh, I remember jumping up & down and swinging my arm (as was the fashion) to this back in the day.. [drifts off into nostalgic remembrance]

so, another mixed-bag of stuff.. some I really liked, some I wasn't all that keen on, some made me look wistfully to the past.. h'mm, yeh I might have to give #18 another listen..
