see.. you let someone borrow your magic-pen-what-can-write-on-CDs and you get first listen. result. right then, eyes down for a full house..
01 - so that's what happens when you throw a cat at a guitar. I did always wonder. shame it's so short, I was just starting to get into it.
02 - oh lordy. it's a real blast from the past. this makes me want to put a bag over my head, hang myself from the bedroom door and then masturbate myself into asphyxial bliss. nice!
03 - if
Interpol ever cheered up for more than five minutes, and got
Ian McCulloch to sing for them, then I think they'd sound not unlike this. i.e. pretty damn good.
04 - and another oldie, so to speak. I liked this when it first came out.. listening to it now though, it's way too overblown and I can't make out a word the guy is saying. still good, but I don't like it as much as I used to.
05 - she's as mad as box of bird-flu infected penguins but, in my book, she can do no wrong. this is no exception. lovely.
06 - it's loud. it's got guitars. it's got a vocalist that sounds strangely familiar.
07 - as partial as I am to
Shreddies I don't think I'd ever to like be reincarnated as a box of them.
08 - h'mm.. it's a bit pub-as-your-hat innit?
09 - now that's a sexy bass line, and the drums kick in nicely. yes, am liking this very much.
10 - and this too.
11 - excellent.. maybe not the best track on their album but still damn good.
12 - h'mm. yes. was never all that keen on these. the only track of there's I could stand was that infuriatingly catchy number about a certain mexican spirit (and even that became annoying in no time flat). this isn't that song.
13 - nice bass. nice vocals. ticks over quite nicely but, like a jaguar on blocks, doesn't really go anywhere. not that, I guess, it really has too.
14 - hey dude can I kick their drum kit down the stairs? can I dude? can I throw knives at their guitarist? can I dude? can I put these up against a wall and shoot them dude? dude?! DUDE?!? can you make the hurting go away dude?!?! dude, noooooooooo!!!!
yeh, an OK mix of stuff; some I really liked (
3 &
9), some I'd heard before (
2,
4,
5 &
11) and a couple I don't want to hear again (
12 &
14), ever. I'm still intrigued at the track that Paul didn't use (cos it was too long apparently), if it's by the same outfit that did the last track, well, thank heavens there's a swear filter..
