...and lo it came to pass that the first "non-office" SoMC CD,
Get Up n' Geetar, landed on my desk..
01 - and it's off to a cracking start I must say.. this always reminds me of
Wynona's Big Brown Beaver at the beginning (no bad thing). I think they've got a new album in the can so fingers crossed they'll be touring soon.
02 - it's good to have a bit of the blues on a CD, thumbs up for that.
03 - good foot-tapping stuff; have you raided Neil's record collection?
04 - I like this a lot; the new album is definitely a game of two halves, think it's their best yet though.
05 - strange but true there's a cover version of this track on my latest compo. excellent.
06 - fantastic.
07 - very good indeed, I like these a lot.
08 - very good indeed, I like these a lot.
09 - another song that reminds me of another song.. starts off and I was convinced it was going to be Iggy Pop.
10 - excellent.. top song from a great band, it's on a great soundtrack CD too.
11 - I never really got into these at the time; liked "the big hit", that was about it though. I'm liking this, and track
6 is a cover of one of their songs too.
12 - h'mm.. I think you should invest in a copy of the excellent
Reel & Soul Association CD 13 - very mellow.. where have I heard this before?
14 - I can type with my nose.. OK, so it's not quite as impressive as playing the guitar with your teeth, but it's the best I can do. good tune by the way.
15 - if memory serves this has a very dodgy video
if there was ever a song that made you want to get drunk, leap on a table, and bang a tea tray on your head then this wouldn't be it (that'd be something by
The Pogues); instead this song would keep drinking, kick over the table, pull a couple of slappers from the bar and get kicked out of the club with them at 4 in the morning.
16 - fantastic.
17 - again, very mellow.. but, argh.. where have I heard this before?
excellent.. I don't think there's a duff track here (IMHO); I've had the CD ensconced in my PC for the past few days on repeat, so that's another good sign. it's not full of weird stuff, or even stuff that's brand spanking new, it's just an honest to goodness compilation that's full of good tunes (again, IMHO). big thumbs up.
