Even though Dave is the only one who seems to read this anymore, i'd like to announce that i've done another cd, entitled Big Wave. Its lean, only 11 tracks and around 42 minutes long, so there's no excuse not to give it a quick listen! Should be hitting someones desk soon...

And so Paul's CD lands on my desk. Can I be bothered to do a track by track? Yeah, why the hell not.. 01 - Classic! It's off to a raucous start, lots of guitars and intimidation. I saw these live awhile back, they completely rocked the Wedgewood Rooms; the lead singer is scary-ass bonkers, I think he was fairly up for a ruck with the audience if memory serves.. 02 - It's a bit Magic Numbers on steroids isn't it? Has incidental music to the OC stamped across it, but I like it all the same. 03 - Nice catchy lyrics and tiddly bonk bits; Simian + Hot Chip = this lot 04 - Blimey, haven't heard this in ages. It's their 'other' hit, and I like it more than the one they're remembered for. 05 - Well, this is a bit mellow isn't it? It's laid back to the point of falling over (though it reminds me of something else, damned if I can remember what though). 06 - Again, haven't heard this in ages I may have to blow the dust off my copy of the first album (the only one anyone bought) and give it a listen. Whatever happened to the surly looking redhead guitarist? She was cute, in a surly redhead way obviously.. 07 - Sounds like Moby pretending to be New Order. 08 - This reminds me of something else.. thought it was going to go a bit Maximo Park when it started.. oh.. I suppose it does really 09 - RAWK! OK, so the lyrics are a bit Brian Molko but there's guitars.. lovely lovely guitars.. 10 - This starts off mellow then goes a bit midwest rawk. It's not my bag of chips, it's more montage music really 11 - Oh sweet baby jesus.. is this Extreme? If not it sounds like it should be; guitars, big drums, dumb lyrics and big big hair.. I can actually hear the big hair.. oh the humanity! Those lyrics are bad for your health.. you could've warned me.. 12 - See, now you're just taking the wee.. Like the last line.. A nice mixture of stuff, some old, some new, some I like, some I don't (and at least one track that has scarred me for life). Nice.

Honestly, he makes noise about getting the CD's....then does boogah all about reviewing....
Never let it be said !
My review of Big Wave.
1) "The Knives!"...Chunky, like a good Beef Stew. 2) I don't want to, but I liked it for the first half...Second half was a disappointment tho. 3) Not my Cup of Tea, it's a bit Lapsang Souchong to my Yorkshire preference. 4) Returning to the groove, recognise the voice. Could imagine walking down a sea front listening to this. 5) Warning: Listening to this track may cause involountary swaying... 6) Top 2nd guitar entrance! Like the structure but find the vocals tame and weedy, shame, the rhythm section are great. 7) Yep, like this, don't know who it is, but I like it. 8) I thoroughly enjoying the guitar based feeling to this selection, apart from the Bridge and chorus, I like this song. 9) Chunky riffage, I'm in ! 10)Cracking tune, Yorkshire Blend for hard Water. 11)heh heh heh. 12)All time classic...
Overall Impression; I'm going to the use the Beaufort Wind Scale to illustrate my overall feeling, the windier, the better; Force: 6 - Strong Breeze. Effects observed on the Sea: Larger Waves forming, whitecaps everywhere, more spray.

Overall Impression; I'm going to the use the Beaufort Wind Scale to illustrate my overall feeling, the windier, the better; Force: 6 - Strong Breeze. Effects observed on the Sea: Larger Waves forming, whitecaps everywhere, more spray. Nice. I like the Wikipedia entry's description of Land Conditions for Force 6: - Large branches in motion. Whistling heard in overhead wires. Umbrella use becomes difficult.
Moving swiftly on, here's the track-listing for Paulo's Big Wave: Therapy? - 'Knives' The Crimea - 'Girl Just Died' Clor - 'Love + Pain' Cornershop - 'Lessons Learned From Rocky 1 to Rocky 3' Engineers - 'Come In Out Of The Rain' Elastica - 'Stutter' James Roberts - 'If Time Was All' Duels - 'Animals' Ash - 'Clones' Filter - 'Skinny' Electric Boys - 'Groovus Maximus' Les Dawson - 'Blankety Blank interlude'
