as the name of this thread suggests, here is where to put the best and/or worst outfits you've experienced live. as for me.. best? at the moment it's a tie between Asian Dub Foundation at the Wedge, Crowded House at Pompey Guildhall and Super Furry Animals at the Forum in Kentish Town (I think). this is subject to change worst? it has to be Action Painting, a Gosport based outfit I had the misfortune of seeing at the Pyramids supporting Suede/House Of Love years ago. dire, truly dire.

Best - Pulp headlining Glasonbury in '95 as replacements for the Stone Roses, supoib! didn't know any songs apart from Common People and Babies, but they got the whole crowd bouncing like loons. ;D Worst - have to think abaht it! Thought about it, don't think i've ever been to a really rubbish gig. Most underwhelming i suppose would be the occaisions i've seen Oasis. To get an idea of what its like, put the records on really loudly, and position 5 mannequins with guitars in your living room. Then have some local chavs push you around looking for fights and acting like cocks.

BEST ? REM 1989, Portsmouth Guildhall, don't think i've mentioned it before! or AC/DC S'ton Mayflower (Bon Scotts last tour) SOD s'ton Mayflower, OysterBand Blodweileen Castle South Wales. Worst - Japan yes I know, it was a girl thing. The annual Butlins 60's festival comes a close second.

Ponce alert
BEST: Spearhead in Berlin. Bentley Rhythm Ace at the Brook. Sugarcubes at Portsmouth Guildhall. Inspiral Carpets at Reading for having more show than talent (in a good way). Pixies - Reading (before the first time they split) oh and Bob Log III at Fuji
WORST: SUGAR in Bristol - Didn't give a fudge about the audience in a bad way, and I adore Sugar, big disapointment. Tricky - scumton Guildhall - could not hear him.

Now have to add Hot Chip to the bst. They were superb, so watchable and multi layered live. Just excellent, they look liked they enjoyed themselves as well!

Hmmm - toughy but here goes;
Best; Queens of the Stone Age at Highbury Garage pre 1st Album, Rawk! Elbow at Brixton Acadamy, class. Faith No More at Bristol Colston Hall, some clever bu**er decided to try and make it a seated event...3 songs in and the first 10 rows of fixed seats have disappeared, and Mike Patton is frisbeeing the seat cushions into the audience ! Magic !
Worst; The Bee's at Wedgewood Rooms, no personality, thought they were too good to be playing to us. Manic Street Preachers supporting Oasis at Knebworth. In fairness, the Charlatans blew everyone away that day, but the Manics Reeeealy sucked.

Reckon I must choose well as have not had too many bad ones.
But best ones is damn tuff, and I will most likely change this list about a dozen times but here goes.
Best (in no order)
Lee Griffiths at the Jockstock event last year so damn cool!
Horse at the wedge some years ago
Kiki Dee and Carmelo whatshisface doing an acoustic intimate thingy at the wedge (not normally a big fan so don’t be too harsh)
The Hoax at the brook (and everywhere else to be honest) - I miss the Hoax!
My Life Story at the Wedge (on many occasions)
Madness at Finsbury park '91 - Madstock the real return of the magnificent 7 where they did it for the love and the fans
Lamb (every time I see them)
Ani Difranco at the SBE '95/96
Ezio - south parade pier '05
Worst
Madness Wembley arena '92/93ish where they did it for the money
Paul Weller once in London and once in Bournemouth to check that it was not a fluke and I can confirm he is arrogant and dull and the thingy commands way too much money for way too little performance
and while I am on about commanding to much money for far too little - I give you Van (I am way toooo important) Morrison at the Ports Guildhall a few years ago
Eddie Reader - at the Wedge, I am sure if we had not walked out half way through then I would have caught "middle age" and have been compelled to buy sandals and wear knee length socks with shorts and attempt combovers and and ............. well you get the picture.
Am sure I have way more to say about this but will give the floor to someone else

Barenaked Ladies at Ports Guildhall I was at that, damn good they were too.. Anyway, I had a bit of a think and a few more candidates for Worst Live Act sprung to mind.. Doctor & The Medics - just woeful, and on the same bill as.. Big Audio Dynamite - really disappointing, they played the same song twice after spending several minutes telling us they were "taking [us] to part two". and finally.. Sebastien Tellier - he was the support for Air at the Soton Guildhall awhile back, and was awesomely pretentious; spent the set fiddling about with his guitar and smoking Gauloise whilst his girlfried widdled about on a theremin. dire.
