Went to go and see The Bluetones @ The Wedge on the 23rd April.
Most enjoyable gig!
Got there a bit late so missed the first support act and from what I hear they quite good. Came in half way through the second support acts set, I thought they were quite pretentious and poo so I went to see David Patrick Micheal Marmaduke Gideon Wiseman for a chat in the bar and then queued for ages to purchase an over priced beverage (has to be expected) whilst chatting to some strange girls who together were a human gradient of ming!. It was totally rammed and they decided to turn off the fans....Weddun!
Bit later the Bluetones appeared. Hoped they would kick off with Bluetonic, low and behold.....they did, brilliant opener had a good old sing and a bit of a boogie. Kind of set the tone for the whole gig. It was a very up tempo mix of classic stuff and new stuff. Didn't really stray much from the album sound, but that was cool cos they sounded very good. They were very tight, very energetic and very up for it.
Fave bits: Bluetonic, Cut Some Rug, Slight Return, The Bluetones Big Score and they closed with If......oh and the sexpot blondie that was stood behind us.
Not so good bits: The farting midget who decided to stand in front of me....fudgeING thingy pocket billiards player excrementBOX poopchute!!!!!!!!.....and they neglected to play Turtlehead Johnson, grrr!

The Bluetones were bloody good, some top tunes played by a very tight band. I was hoping that If would make an appearance and I wasn't disappointed. I was also blown away by the Love cover ( Maybe The People Would Be The Times) at the end, damn fine stuff. Ricky were the first support, sounded OK from what I heard of them (only caught two songs, nice close harmonies though). The second support, Corporation:Blend, were fairly average and nothing to write home about (we quickly renamed them "Corporation:BLAND"). The only downers were A) the Wedge was so damned packed it was ridiculous and B) the crappy 2nd support act were stood by us in the bar gabbing away throughout the Bluetones set.
