Seeing as some of our number (Craig, Neil) have tickets for the Rosebowl gig I thought I'd gauge opinion on what the SoMC think of those cheeky Northern Monkeys from Manchester

oops.. that's what I meant, Be Here Now is (as I said to Mr Y earlier) an overblown exercise in self-indulgent musical masturbation

1st album = raw, edgey, rocktastic
2nd album = polished, slightly better constructed, missing some of the debut's vitality but still damn good
3rd album = overblown and self-indulgent musical masturbation
4th album = did anyone buy this?
5th album = a couple of singles
latest album = the NME quite liked it

Actually in that case i should have said its been downhill since Definitely Maybe, cos i don't like Morning Glory either, its got a couple of good songs but in the main is a townie anthems cd...

nonsense Mr R and W. Oasis are bloody fab. no if buts or pretentious maybe's. I know who i'd rather listen to or read an interview with if it was between, god help us coldplay zutons blah blah or oasis.
anyway i have tickets, you don't, so thats an end of it.

DM and WTSMG are brilliant. They're 2 of my all time faves. Yes the more recent albums are not up to the same standard in my eyes but they always contain a few gems eg Stand by Me, Gas Panic, Sunday Morning Call even Hindu Times of which the acoustic version with Noel singing is excellent. Come to think of it a lot of their tunes sounds really good acoustic. Oh and you forgot the B-Sides album David which is also qualidee mate.
