Friends, Romans Countrymen lend me your ears for I have need of them. Tuesday nite, Brighton, The mighty Spear and a bastard good support band - Salter Cane created a nites leaping about to two different music types. This Ocean Room was hotter than a microwaved hamster. The stage was small, the bar long and the ceiling low. first up Salter Cane - looking like the band from Dust till Dawn ( blak suits & red shirts) started off with a slow trak which normally results in removing any hope of audience sympathy but they captivated the crowd instantly. Sounding somewhere between Nick Cave & Black they then upt the tempo for the rest of the set ending with a cover of Joy Division's Colony. All in all great, and the four trak cd bought. Spear? dear gods wat a gig - starting with a track from Kirk's 10:51 incarnation, thru to traks off the new cd then bak to really early Spear (Rainmaker) bak to the new single psykotic and Joy Division's Transmission. Then a rare airing of Come Bak, which slid into a Clash cover with the change of lyrics to 'ain't no Brazilian going home tonite'. Never Take me Alive was saved till nearly last, with an all in mosh of an encore for The Wheel and of course Liberator.
trak listing:- Europa Age of Unreason Rain maker Prison Planet Psykotic Last man standing In transit Radio Radio come back Luckyman Transmission This Communication NTMA ------- The Wheel Liberator
