I was really tempted to review this in the style of track 1 but it might just have busted the swear filters. then I thought about reviewing it in the style of Maxwell from Big Brother 6 but that would've been worse.
01 - that's Kool and the Gang, ya get me?
02 - if the 70's disco scene had a secret underground indie movement they'd have done stuff just like this..
03 - there's a bit of this that REALLY reminds me of You're So Vain if sung by Tim Burgess. weird. again, a bit 70's and ever so slightly Radio 2.
04 - I have this recurring dream that I die after tripping over a black cat whilst walking under a ladder; trying vainly to avoid the cracks in the pavement as I land a large mirror falls from the sky and smashes into a million pieces as it hits my head. if that ever happens I'd like this played at my funeral please
class.
05 - he's as mad a box of chocolate frogs and isn't great live.. but in the studio he can come up with the goods.
06 - that's a slice of fried gold right there.
07 - everybody, do the Bernard Matthews!
08 - given my longstanding (and well-known) dislike for this bloke I should not like this. but it's OK, maybe a little harder of edge than his earlier stuff.
09 - has this been on another compo already? sounds familiar, like I've heard it very recently. it's a bit ploddy though, and goes on a bit.
10 - a living legend he may be but I'm sure he said "Alf Garnett" at the beginning of this.
11 - he's genius who loses his way frequentely, this is the shizzle though.
12 - it's a good song but I think I've head it so many times it's lost it for me.
13 - no. no no no no no no no. no.
14 - oh blimey.. I had the 12" single of this! takes me back to my misspent college days [glazes over in reminiscence]
15 - it's jingly. it's jangly. it's all good.
so, in a nutshell..
the highs: 01, 02, 04, 06, 07, 11, 14, 15
the middles: 03, 05, 08, 10
the lows: 09, 12, 13
cool, a good mixture of old, new and ooer
fudgeabout!
PS butternut squash tastes goooood, marrow tastes goooood.. ;D
