I've long thought that some sort of question\answer thread might be a good thing. Of course, I'm lazy, hence I've held off doing anything until now. Also, given the cobwebs and tumbleweeds hereabouts, there's probably no-one out there asking these questions, or wanting answers to them. Do I care? Not really, no.
What is the Son of Music Club?
The Son of Music Club is.. well, have a read of this, it pretty much explains why we're here.
Aha, right. So it's like a mixtape-type thing then?
Something like that yes, only we use CDs rather than cassettes.
And once you've listened to the CDs you lay down your thoughts on their contents here on the forum?
Damn straight.
So, you're a sad bunch of musos then?
Err.. well.. oi!
Can anyone join in?
Well, the rules state that the number of people in the SoMC proper should remain manageable (as the whole operation could quite easily get out of hand) but guest compilations are always welcome.
So I should get cracking and knock up a CD then?
If you so wish to, yes.
And then?
Just drop me a line via , or join up on the forum and PM one of the moderators.
And then?
Err.. I guess you'll have to post it to us.
And then?
You can stop that right now.
Sorry. What if people say nasty things about my CD on the forum? I understand that not everyone likes Westlife, but even so..
There are forum rules regarding such matters (no spitting of the dummy allowed).
What happens to the CDs once they've done the rounds?
They're returned to their creators, who either keep and listen to them, turn them into novelty coasters or destroy them slowly and sadistically.
Why aren't there any track-listings?
Did you not read the blurb earlier? It's so people can't pre-judge what's on the CDs. After a compilation has done the rounds the track-listing may well appear on the Son of Music Club blog (possibly).
What's this Event Calendar thing then?
The forum came equipped with a handy calendar feature; being a sad muso I decided to fill it with listings for local gigs (yes yes, for local people). More information is available here.
