1, Game of all 4's. Stall set out here then. Carries on where she left off. Stripped down arrangement, beautiful voice, nice story. Ends with a smidgen of brass. Here we go.. 8 out of 10
2, The lark. Blimey even slower than the start. Along with the photoes in the booklet - Kate doesn't look too happy. 6.5 doesn't grab.
3. No names -this is v.nice, got that fella from Idelwild on. 8.
4. Mary blaize, ahh the full band and about time Ms Rusby. This will be fantastic live. 8.5
5. A ballad. Blimey, back we go again, special though.
Takes a few listens. 8.
6.You belong to me, nope this definitely ain't going to kick off into a foot stomping album. A good cover, slower than the original (you'd think?) 7.5
7. Elfin knight, The bands back in full glory. Still no songs of the sea or sailors. Really like this. lyric - 'The elfin knight stands on yon hill blowing his horn both loud & shrill'. Can't wait for Kate to introduce that.9.
8. Bonnie house of airlie. Beautiful, nearly 6 mins of perfection. 9.5
9. Moon shadow, nope not that one. Less cheerful than the other one (again, you'd think?), bloody miserable actually. Could become a fave. 9.1.
10. Wandering Soul. bloody hell, snare drum. Dear gods wat will the 'finger in the ear' brigade say. Again, a great song, she just sounds soooo pissed off. Again, got the fellas from Idelwild on. 9.1
11. Fare thee well. Big powerfull finish? not quite, another miserable as sin set of lyrics. Works of course, just don't play at a party. Again, got the fellas from Idelwild . 8.8
12. Little jack frost. bonus track.A good ending.9.
so there it is, won't win any new fans but those of us who are hooked then this is job done. I think its a grower where as the others have been more immediate.
