At the moment the gavriloprincip CD player seems to be a bit of a Canadian benefit
Death From Above 1979 Metric Arcade Fire
and a healthy dollop of Maximo Park.

oh yes, I'm also enjoying the Metric CD.. it was a definite bonus catching them as the support for DFA1979 I treated myself to The Magic Numbers debut album yesterday, hence I've spent most of today with that pumping through my headphones.

on the gramophone this week.. Röyksopp - The UnderstandingA bargain £3.99 in the MVC sale (for the double CD edition), this is a definite grower. Not as immediate as Melody A.M. (but then again, I did play that to death). Coming soonish to the Pyramids too, nice. Susanna & The Magical Orchestra - List of Lights & BuoysI stumbled across this lot when I found their cover of Dolly Parton's "Jolene" (!) on the Copy, Right? mp3 blog. The band hail from Norway and produce minimalist slices of introspection, nice to chill out to if a bit self-indulgent. There's a review of the CD here and the band are heading to the Turner Sims in the near future. Which is nice. The Mountain Goats - Tallahassee, The Sunset TreeAnother outfit that I discovered via an MP3 blog. I downloaded "No Children", also available here, and just couldn't stop playing it. They kind of remind me of The Waterboys (in a good way). Nostalgia 77 - The GardenWhat is it with me and MP3 blogs lately? Are they the new radio? Again, another band (though in reailty one guy in his Brighton bedroom) that the internet through into my path. It's a strange mixture of jazz and beats, worth a look if you like that sort of thing (I do). The latest CD features a cracking cover of The White Stripes "Seven Nation Army" though, as this review points out, it's a bit out of place amidst the rest of the tunes. Super Furry Animals - Love KraftGoes without saying. And finally.. I've also been listening to of Montreal, courtesy of the gratis MP3s on their website.

I have been listening to..........
1, Kate Rusby 2, Staind 3, Spear 4, and from today the new Disturbed CD, bally good it is to - including a corking version of Genesis's Land of Confusion. Seriously crap cover though. 5, KT Tunstall, no don't ask, and yes it is bollox. Michelle Shocked was doing the same thing sooo much better 15 years ago.
