Mercury Prize 2005 shortlist

The shortlist for this year's Mercury Music Prize has been announced, as follows:

Antony and the Johnsons - I Am A Bird Now
Bloc Party - Silent Alarm
Coldplay - X&Y
The Go! Team - Thunder, Lightning, Strike
Hard-Fi - Stars of CCTV
KT Tunstall - Eye to the Telescope
Kaiser Chiefs - Employment
The Magic Numbers - The Magic Numbers
Maximo Park - A Certain Trigger
MIA - Arular
Polar Bear - Held on the Tips of Fingers
Seth Lakeman - Kitty Jay

The BBC say the bookies have tipped Kaiser Chiefs to win. I'd love it if MIA won, just cos it'd REALLY annoy Stu & Andy (teehee!), but it'll probably be between Bloc Party, the Kaisers and The Go! Team (says he, hedging his bets).

As tonight is the big night (well, when the winner is announced) there's an article on the BBC News site detailing the nominees. There's also a handy "who o you think should win" poll.

So far the Kaisers are in the lead.
