Ah, the 80's, those halcyon days of excess. Flock of Seagulls haircuts, Sony Walkmans, Sonny Crockett's dumbass bolero jacket; the eighties gave us all these. Best of all though, it was the decade when the pop video really came into its own. Now, thanks to the wonder of YouTube (and more importantly some Spanish guy who's hunted them all down and linked them in one place) we can once again watch some of those classic 80's promos... Milinkito's Eighties You Tube Video pageOf course, being a Spanish site, amongst all the good stuff ( A-ha, Mantronix, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Wendy & Lisa) there's all sorts of europop/pap ( Baltimora, Jive Bunny, Samantha Fox) as well as some Iberian heavy metal ( Heroes Del Silencio, as heard in Scandals one particularly grimy Thursday night many years ago). There are some real gems here though, the Propaganda ' P-Machinery' video is just insanely bad, though it's not nearly as dog rough as ' Right Between The Eyes' by Wax. oh lordy. Anyway, it beats blowing the dust off my Video Hits Collection (volumes 1 and 2). All I need now is a can of Quattro to drink whilst I watch them all.
